If there are any additional questions regarding the accessibility of a polling place or use of ADA equipment to mark your ballot, please contact the County Clerk. Primary Election Day is August 19, 2008. The last day to register to vote for the Primary Election is July 21, 2008 from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. in the Lander Elections Office and 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Riverton County Clerk’s Office. Registration will be permitted at the polls on Primary Election Day. The first day to file for the above offices is May 15, 2008 at 8 a.m. and the last day for county offices will be on May 30, 2008 at 5 p.m. at the County Clerk’s Election Office in Lander. Filings may be left at the County Clerk’s Office in Riverton between the hours of 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. during the filing period. The closing date for municipalities will be May 30, 2008. Filings may be left with the city/town clerk. All candidates must file statements of campaign receipts by August 12 and statements of campaign receipts and expenditures by August 29, 2008. Candidates for statewide office and state legislature shall file their statements with the Secretary of State. Candidates for a county or municipal office shall file their statements with the County Clerk. 22‑25‑108. Failure of candidate or committee to file statement. (a) Candidates shall be given notice prior to an election that failure to file, within the time required, a full and complete itemized statement of receipts and expenditures shall result in a vacancy in nomination or a vacancy in office, as the case may be, the candidate shall not receive a certificate of nomination, or election, nor shall he enter upon the duties of the office, as the case may be and the candidate may be charged with a misdemeanor as provided by W.S. 22‑26‑112. (b) A candidate who fails to file the statement of receipts required by the seventh day before the election shall have his name printed on a list drafted by the appropriate filing office specified under W.S. 22‑25‑107. The list shall immediately be posted in the filing office and made available to the public. The candidate may be charged with a misdemeanor as provided by W.S. 22‑26‑112. (c) In addition to any other penalty provided by law, a candidate who fails to file the statement required by subsection (a) of this section within one (1) month of the report due date is ineligible to run as a candidate for any state or local office for which a statement is required by W.S. 22‑25‑106 until: (i) Five (5) years have elapsed from the date the statement was first due; and (ii) The person has filed the required statement. (d) Each political action committee shall be given notice prior to an election that failure to file the statement may result in the filing of criminal charges against the committee's officers responsible for the filing. Any officer of a political action committee who is responsible for filing a report and who knowingly and willfully fails to file a report as required or who knowingly and willfully subscribes to, makes or causes to be made a false report is guilty of a felony punishable by imprisonment not to exceed two (2) years. 22‑25‑109. Reporting candidates in violation. The secretary of state shall report the names of all candidates in violation of the Election Code of the state of Wyoming to the attorney general or to the district attorney for appropriate action. Absentee Ballots for the Primary Election may be requested at the Lander Election Office or the Riverton Office. The ballots will be available beginning July 10, 2008. A qualified elector may apply for an absentee ballot either in person, in writing, or by the telephone. An absentee request may be downloaded from our web site (www.fremontcountywy.org). If the ballot is not to be picked up by the elector, the address to which the absentee ballot is to be mailed or the name of the individual the elector designates in writing to deliver the ballot to the elector is needed. Ballots must be returned to the clerk’s LANDER office by August 19, 2008 (7 p.m.), Primary Election Day, to be counted. Ballots will not be available at these locations on Election Day. The names of candidates will be rotated on the official ballots and will not always appear in the order indicated in the sample ballots. (Published in accordance with Sec. 22-2-109, WY statutes).
