Patrol

If you are interested in being
a Patrol Deputy, There are a few more hurdles to overcome. In most cases,
The Fremont County Sheriff’s Office promotes staff from Detentions and
Communications to Patrol. On a yearly basis, a date is picked and all the
staff is offered to test for Patrol positions that may come open in the
course of that year. The test is a series of questions including scenario
based questions that are asked by a panel of supervisors. The high scores
will go on a list and any openings in that year will be offered to the
highest score first. Any employee is eligible, but must be in good
physical condition and has to be able to pass a physical fitness test at
the time of an opening. Once promoted to a Patrol position, the deputy
will enter into an intensive 14 week Field Training Program and then 12
weeks at the Wyoming Law Enforcement Academy for certification. The new
deputy will not work without immediate supervision until he/she has meet
all of the training requirements. The duties and responsibilities of a
Patrol Deputy are many. They vary from serving criminal and civil papers,
handling traffic accidents and complaints, any breech of state statutes
and a multitude of public relations oriented issues. Almost all of the
Patrol Deputies started in Communications or Detentions and dedicated
several years to those duties before being promoted as a Patrol Deputy. |
